As some of you may know I (DangerMouse) took part in the OFC`s Tournament Blackjack Event. I managed to win myself a little cash and also secured a $50 freeroll for the forum.

Who's Eligible :
Normally the freerolls won through OFC events are open to the people who participated in the event. However on this occasion I was the only player to take part from APF. However for the game to take place we need a minimum of 10 players. With that being the case I`m throwing an invite to any contributing member that wants to play. So if you`re a regular poster or player of APF`s buy-ins and you fancy giving tournament blackjack a shot sign up at Club World using the APF link and post your screen name in the thread.

Please note that although this event is organised through APF the final decision on who is eligible rests with me (DangerMouse).

I`m sure many of you have never played tournament BJ before so I`ll explain a little about how it works.

The tournament takes place over a number of levels (dependent on the number of players involved).

Each level consists of 10 rounds. At the end of each level a predesignated number of players go through to the next level.

In each round your goal is, as in standard BJ, to beat the dealer`s hand. However in tournament blackjack you are actually playing against the other players.

You will start with 2000 chips (these reset at each new level so starting stacks are always the same. Your stack does not carry through)and your goal is to have more chips than the other players (or be in the top 2 or 3, however many are going through).

In each level you can bet as much many of your chips as you wish (there is a minimum bet, usually 100 chips). If you run out of chips at any time you are eliminated from the tournament.

As in poker there is a button and the deal rotates. Position is important because when you act later you can see how much your opponents have bet. This allows you to tailor your own betting strategy and bet more or less than your opponents as you see fit.

I hope that`s clear enough for everyone to understand. If not just type tournament blackjack into your browser and you`ll find plenty of (better) explanations.

Whilst I didn`t find it as compelling as poker. I can`t deny that it was an interesting mental exercise. It`s certainly different and I hope some of you will take the time to sign up and play the event. After all, you`ve nothing to lose and you might even find it to your taste.
