Yep, a true honest cook who said what he thought.

I watched a program last night where Keith Allen interviewed him in France recently (he was his longtime hero too) and he still had not lost that quality, although the years of excess living had taken its toll.  

One of a kind.

tbh, i'd never heard of your friend.  I watched a few of the youtube clips and the guy looks like he was a riot to be around.  Live hard, die young.

Keith Floyd was the first tv chef (and he was much more than that) to have a somewhat more rock 'n' roll approach to presenting. I remember when he first started, with glass of red wine permantly near, posh voice but full of attitude and life. Not just that, he made you fall in love with food as much as he did.
