Technical query (Recommended ISP or ISP to avoid)I need help guys and gals with my Internet connection  .
You see, it works fine all day long  , connects to the web quickly and on to my favourite poker  and porn sites  .
For some reason, come early evening here in good old Blighty, I cannot get on to any poker sites for and hour or two  .
We are on Tiscali broadband and can still get on to non poker sites, but they run slow and my Google spell checker doesn't work either at this time. I can't believe that the poker sites are all so busy at 7pm GMT every night.
Does this mean Tiscali is clogged up. 
Anyone else have similar problems.

sounds like that's the case. if it generally works fine and you just have problems at peak hours you may want to look at upgrading the speed of your connection.
i sure brian knows more in terms of england (a long time since i lived there), in scandinavia everything is scarily efficient.
....hope you can get it sorted !

We do have the cheapest package Tiscali offered, but I assumed that Broadband was the all sing all dancing way to the future.

no probs - been there many times and will be again (and that hand could be very usual to you down the line if we get heads up again). plus if you remember early on i thought brian was taking the mickey and stuck all my chips in. that time i got very lucky. usually in poker these things eventually even out ! 
sounds like you need the upgrade mate - if you have the lowest speed then it's fair to assume the when the net is at it's busiest in your area, you will experience some lag. it shouldn't cost you that much to take at least one step up.

Thanks for the advice, though I can't think it is a band width problem as we have few problems before. This past week has been terrible.
I read on pacific mention of up to 15 hubs connections to them but they say if you can't get on try again in a few minutes. We need hours!
Any brighter sparks out there, than us couple of buskers.

Contact Tiscali & ask if you can increase your speed, the standard is probably not very high, shouldn't cost much, you can use some of those $ you are making from your increased player skills

increasing the speed would definatly help it sounds like there not geared for all the extra traffic in the after noon hours with kids getting home from school and people from work

I have kicked this thread back into life after a five month gap because we are again having soooooooooooooo much hassle from our ISP tiscali.
This year it has dumped us both from many games or stopped us even starting them.
We want to change ISP's and have loosely chosen either AOL or SKY broadband as we had been with AOL before (pre-poker days) but changed for a better price and already have the full sky package.
Is anyone on either of these systems and have any comments good or bad.
Are you with someone else trouble free that you can suggest we look at.

ive been with AOL about 6 years now the last 2 of them have been broadband, and i have to say that over those 6 years i havent had any real problems wot so ever, hope u get ur ISP problems sorted m8......

We have pretty much made up our minds now to go back to AOL. Oddly, we thought everyone had these sorts of problems too.
Our occasional disconnections were annoying but we are missing out on six pre-reg games last night and three more games this evening seals the decision.
Tiscali's reply to us today, was call back on monday during office hours.
Terrific service huh.

I feel your pain KN. I've had numerous connection problems for the last several months. Makes it not worth signing up for any buyins if you know you may miss most of the hands. Good luck with AOL.

Thanks JR, I know you often have trouble getting into Jungle games too. 
A Tiscali bod did say they would make some changes their end,  allowing us access to the site without problem. 
I simply do not beleive they can do that if, as they have now admitted, they have too many people globally using their systems at peak times.
If they can do that, what have I been paying for for the past year... a reduced service they put right at the flick of a switch.
Edited: After even worse problems following our complaint to tiscali, to which we received no help from them, nor did we have the promised return call from 'advanced technical help', they have admitted that many tiscali customers are experiencing this sort of difficulty.
DON'T SIGN UP WITH TISCALI IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE CONNECTION
