MLP Buy-In League #4 Top 5 Winners SNG - 02.02.08 Results

Thanks as always to the "groovy gang" hanging out in the Chat Room supporting the players. I hope the other members involved in the game will tell their story in the thread below.

As for me, well after a poor start everything pretty much held up running into the final table and i had worked my way up into a comfortable second position with a gap forming to the other 3 left below. I get dealt pocket kings in the BB and when the big stack raises 3 times the blind, i naturally re-raised about double the bet. He re-raises and puts me all-in which i naturally call. Imagine my pleasure as he turns over pocket Jacks and nothing comes on the flop or the turn. I'm beginning to think about $1000 when the miracle Jack hits on the river and sends me packing. From potentially massive chip leader to gone from the tourney with one easy card ......pokers a cruel mistress sometimes.

I know similar things happened to Brian (out-Full Housed when well in contention) and the others, but what a time for that to happen with the finish line in sight . Having said that, theres simply never a good time to experience a 2 outer suck-out is there ?  

As far as i could tell (apart perhaps from one and that happens to us all mate ), we all played to the usual MLP standard and it was just a shame that more of us didn't make the money. Well played all !

Congrats Harry on very well played game. i think the hole team played great poker and i am proud of you all.


for me i was getting bad card for the first 30 minutes and then i doubled up with a full house. and then i flopped a A high str8 with two spades on the flop i bet 800 was called turn was 3h i bet 1300 he calls and turn was 8s i had 400 left so i go all in he calls. showdown he had 6s9s wins with flush. i should have went all in after the flop and maybe he would have folded. and maybe not the way they were playing. they were going all in with a draw all day. it was a lot of fun watching all the MLP players and chatting with them in this game.

It was great fun in the chat room cheering you guys on after I got it so wrong, so quickly.

Well played Harry. You hung in there well during the first hour & got your reward. I think we were all dumbstruck when that Jack hit the river, you would have had 135k & probably more chips than all the rest put together. Poker can be very harsh sometimes, but you did get over $200 so well done mate  

As for me, I was coasting in this one, was constantly around the top ten until I got hit with a real sucker punch  
I had 9T hearts & limped into a multi way flop.
Flop came T88 & everyone checked to me on the button, there were about 6 players so I played it careful & also checked.
The turn came a 9, everyone checked so I bet my top 2 pair hoping no one had an 8, so I get one caller & think  
The river came another 9....bingo I hit pay dirt & was now hoping my opponent had the 8   .
The guy bets out half the pot & I move allin eagerly anticipating my chip lead. He called & showed  me Pocket Tens & I felt sick    I just didnt see it, a real bolt from the blue  

Well played to Team MLP & everyone in the chat room as they all played well   .
Shirun was unlucky to exit late on with JJ v K9   but Harry was the star & I'm sure he will take many positives from this
