The MLP Buy-In League Table : Season 5 FINAL STANDINGS

Welcome to the MLP Buy-In League - Season 5 :
1st place will receive the MLP Buy-In League Trophy . The top 5 players will each receive up to a $20 tournament entry (most likely the same MTT event at a given site) to be arranged at the completion of the league. The top 8 finishers from combined seasons 5 & 6 will also get a guaranteed place in the MLP Top 20 All Leagues Bonanza #5 which will be held in June 2008.

This will be a series of 12 events held over a 3 month period. Each game will be a $3.30 buy-in with $40 added to the prize pool. League table points will be awarded based upon your finishing position at qualifying tournaments - Next Game : Game 1 Season 2 (click here for details).

Updates :

Just one change here really. We are upping the buy-in from $2+.20 per game to $3+.30 per game.

The H.O.R.S.E. League is remaining at the $2 buy-in level and i think we are ready to make a small move up in the buy-in stakes. This will also generate bigger prize pools, not forgetting the $40 added of course. Hopefully by the end of 2008 and as the forum grows, we will be able to have a higher and lower level league running simultaneously, but for now we'll stick with the small increase and see how it goes from there.

Also, it will now be the Top 8 places qualifying from the combined seasons 5 & 6 for our next MLP Top 20 All Leagues Bonanza #5 (details on that thread).

As per last season, we plan to hold the league equally between Carbon Poker and Poker Nordica although naturally this may change depending on budget and sponsorship restrictions. As always, we will try to make the best deals that we can for the members here at MLP !

I see that the remainder of Buy-in league matches for January (#2, 3 & 4) have been set for Saturdays. I want to enter Riley's live 10 week 'King of Clubs II' competition that also runs on Saturdays. Now I have a bit of dilemma. I figured that I could qualify for the club final of the Riley's comp if I just do well in a couple of the Saturday events, so have decided to miss the MLP event #2 and try to do well enough in the first (of the 10) live events to enable me to miss one or two of them.
Would it be possible to alternate the buy-in league events to fall on alternate Saturdays and Sundays?

MLP Buy-In League season Finale Synopsis :

Probably the closest finish we've ever had in the Buy-In League with 5 players still in with a shout. JR (leader through most of the season), Know-nuffin (previous league winner), Brian Wills (previous trophy winner), bigjoo & HOUSECATS will be competing in tonights game - will we have a brand new trophy winner or will previous experience win the day ?

The permutations really are too many to go into detail but there are a few simple facts which may help us sort out how things may go :

- A win for JR or Know-nuffin will guarantee them the title. This also applies to Brian provided JR doesn't claim second place.

- bigjoo really needs a 1st or 2nd place finish to be in contention and this will still depend on how the current top 3 finish.

- HOUSECATS must win and hope that those above him all leave early.


When we look at the fight for the Top 5 prize winning positions, there are really 10 that have a realistic chance of making an impact :

Our current top 3 look fairly safe and the battle will probably be for the 4th and 5th positions. Certainly this makes for a difficult game for bigjoo and HOUSECATS, who need to go for a big finish if they want to win the League but must also look over their shoulders at the oncoming pack looking to snatch a top 5 finish.

Any which way, this should be a great game with many players that can influence the outcome of this seasons league.

Congrats Know-nuffin on the Trophy, it was a fantastic finish & a deserved win.  
I cant complain after starting game seven on 5 points it was always going to be a long shot.  
Bad luck to JR who was leader all season & I'm sure no one would have begrudged him his first Trophy.....maybe next season mate, keep up the good play
